Each school district has chosen one staff member (or two) to act as a liaison between POPEY and the school district. These District Partners are familiar with the POPEY mandate and supports. One of the important functions a District Partner provides is to arrange for face to face workshops within his/her school district.
POPEY recognizes the valuable expertise of these professionals, who include Directors of Instruction, District Principals, Early Learning Coordinators, and Special Education Teachers, who act as liaisons with POPEY, in addition to their regular job assignment. District Partners meet with the POPEY team face-to-face once a year. The network of District Partners is a province-wide forum for sharing information and for supporting best practice in literacy instruction and inclusive classroom practices for all learners.
